Tom was born in Boulder, Colorado in 1953 and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Tom began mechanical engineering work with McFall, Konkel & Kimball in Denver, Colorado in 1972 while he was still attending CU in Boulder. beach
Tom has lived and worked in Central California and the Monterey Bay Area since 1981. After moving to California, he was a design engineer with Lee & Associates, a consulting mechanical engineering firm in Monterey for 15 years. While at Lee & associates, Tom specialized in hospitals, schools and large commercial projects.
In 1997 Tom became a partner with the Monterey Energy Group in Pacific Grove, California. This firm specialized in mechanical systems for unique architectural designs and was a leader in integrated geothermal design.
In 2003, Tom started his own firm, Tom Knott & Associates, located in Santa Cruz, California, on the Monterey Bay about two hours south of San Francisco.
Tom is licensed as a Mechanical Engineer in California, license number M26749.
